Higher Education 101: What new 4 year degree is being offered at Bellevue College?

Bellevue College hopes to eventually introduce more four-year degree programs that will meet the needs of local employers and residents. Currently, four-year, stand alone, degree programs are being offered at the following Community Colleges in Washington: Olympic College (Bachelor of Science – Nursing), Peninsula College (Bachelor of Applied Science – Applied Management), South Seattle Community College (Bachelor of Applied Science – Hospitality Management).

Education and Labor Officials Pledge Closer Cooperation on Job Training

[Sounds like I-BEST to me, folks!]  As an example, she called for marrying adult-literacy and job-training programs, so that literacy training pertains to the prospective job. Ms. Oates agreed, and said that remedial education should also be embedded in job training.

“We can’t tell someone who wants to be a nurse that it will take two years of remedial work before they get credit” toward a degree, she said. “They’re going to lose their taste for nursing. We need to integrate job skills and adult basic ed.”

Students get boost from Richland researcher

Pedro Guajardo said his life would be a lot different without the state Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement program. The program helps under-represented students pursue degrees and careers in math and science fields, and it opened Guajardo's eyes to new possibilities, he said.

Wanting to bring JC [CC] football back to life

After the last junior [community] college in the state dropped football 13 years ago, Hill has watched players go out of state to play in junior [community] colleges. This fall, he’ll try to give high school graduates a chance to play football in Washington at four junior[community] colleges.

Teams will be at South Puget Sound Community College, Tacoma Community College, Green River Community College and Yakima Valley Community College.

Science students at Spokane Falls Community College will soon have a better learning space thanks to collaborative efforts of SRG Partnership Inc. of Portland and DeNeff Deeble Barton Associates Architects & Planners of Spokane, Wash. The $19.5 million project will replace an outdated chemistry and life science building.
