Passive Aggressive: “Passive” Home Construction Comes to Seattle

A champion for literacy, environment  / Mary Sheila Powers: She taught at numerous campuses

At the time of her death, she was teaching at three different schools: adult basic education at Tacoma Community College, religious studies at Saint Martin’s University and scripture and leadership training at Seattle University.

Powers started the Family Literacy Program at Madison School, an offshoot of Tacoma Community College. She also was nominated for this year’s Outstanding Teacher Award at TCC.

Educator’s legacy will continue to inspire students

A scholarship has been created in memory of lifelong educator Mary Pat Dennis-Andre who taught at Edmonds Community College for 18 years and who died of cancer on October 20, 2009 at the age of 57.
