Walla Walla teens get taste of state politics
Wa-Hi Latino Club members spent a day in Olympia that included giving legislators their two cents on a pending bill
The 12 students, all members of the school's Latino Club, are also part of the TRiO/Educational Talent Search program run out of Walla Walla Community College.

Murray lauds Harbor efforts
Grays Harbor College President Ed Brewster talked about the college’s own recent training efforts. He noted the college has been dealing with record enrollment, even as the Legislature cut its budget by about 12 percent last year. The college faces about a 6 percent budget cut this year, he said.

Shoreline restaurateurs pay back past help
Choi runs the restaurant most of the week while he works as the associate director of facilities at Edmonds Community College. “Growing up we were immigrants and really poor so we lived off of food-bank food,” Saeturn said. “Living off of food bank food, as demeaning as some people might think it is, really did help us to get where we are today in life.”

Gregoire signs compensation package in wake of fatal police shootings
… if a police officer or firefighter dies or becomes totally disabled on duty, their children and spouses will be guaranteed a free college education in the state. Under previous law, colleges were given the option of waiving tuition and fees.
