Olympic College instructor tapped for national initiative
Hundreds of professional chefs from around the country including celebrity chefs gathered on the South Lawn of the White House in June to help kick off First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Chef’s Move to Schools” program … Among the invited chefs was Chris Plemmons, a certified executive chef and former restaurant owner who has been an instructor for the Olympic College culinary arts program for several years.

Government Vastly Undercounts Defaults
For loans made to community-college students, the 15-year default rate is 31 percent. David S. Baime, senior vice president for government relations at the American Association of Community Colleges, called that number "shockingly high."

Beware of Those Pointing Fingers
While Congress continues to point fingers at the for-profit sector, the public and private not-for-profit sectors are quietly shaking in their boots because they know that if Congress gets their way and vilifies the career colleges, the Wizard’s curtain will be quickly pulled back for the public to see. Field’s article points out that the 15-year rate for public two-year institutions was 31 percent.
