Sustainable business practices are focus of new 4-course certificate program at Bellevue College

The program was developed after Bellevue College conducted a “Green Survey” among 16 Puget Sound companies, large and small, to identify and assess the work-force skills employers need to operate successfully today and in the future. Leaders of the participating companies expressed an increasingly urgent need for professionals who understand how to integrate sustainable practices into all aspects of their operations.

What I’m Drinking Now: WOW wine!

The Texas Sommelier Conference had incredible wine at both the sessions … One of my favorites was in a session about the wine of Washington State.  The session’s lessons on topography, and how the soil of a vineyard above a floodplain will give completely different characteristics to the soil of a vineyard below a floodplain, even if those two pieces of land are right next to each other, was insightful.  … Dr. Kevin Pogue PhD, a professor at Walla Walla Community College, [discussed] the land that makes the vineyards of Washington State so different and the soil so expressive.
