YVCC students present findings on Chicano studies

By offering Chicano Studies courses in local high schools, Latino students will more likely earn good grades, stay in school and graduate — according to a new, pilot study recently performed by two Yakima Valley Community College students.

Ely embraces chance to come home, guide GRCC

Auburn’s Lea Hill is no mountain, but as far as Green River Community College’s new president is concerned, it sits at the top of the world.  Eileen Ely gets to guide a top-rate institution, she said, with outstanding programs, first-rate instructors, on a beautiful wooded campus in the midst of a major makeover.

Students flocking to Lower Columbia College

Administrators at Lower Columbia College said they were as prepared as possible when a record number of students began attending fall-term classes on Monday. This year, enrollment is just over 5,000 students, an all-time high, said Sue Groth, LCC college relations manager. Enrollment is up 58 percent since 2007 and the number of adjunct faculty on campus has increased 50 percent since 2008.
