EdCC offers LPN classes starting this spring; hires Nursing Program director
Edmonds Community College previously offered the LPN training in partnership with Lake Washington Institute of Technology, but has now been approved by the state nursing commission and community college system to offer the training locally.

Green River awarded $200,000 for college access effort
Green River Community College has been awarded a grant to launch the South King County College Access Network with a goal to increase college enrollment and completion among South King County students. …  The two-year $202,244 grant comes to Green River from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. SKC-CAN, to be modeled after College Access Network models already at work throughout the country …"This grant will help us and our network of community partners teach students about the benefits of higher education as a career pathway," said Green River President Dr. Eileen Ely.

BBCC receives computer science grant
The new computer science department at Big Bend Community College will add a full-time faculty position, thanks to a grant from the Workforce Development Board. The college received a $149,000 grant for 2013 … [Mary Shannon, instructional designer for the Title V grant] said the Workforce Development Board liked the college's partnerships with local industries in its efforts to revive the program. "Local industry's input, feedback and support really makes a difference," Shannon said.
