College avoids layoffs in 2010-11 budget
Classes at Skagit Valley College might be a little snug next year, but at least no programs will be cut or professors forced to leave. The Skagit Valley College Board of Trustees passed a 2010-11 budget Wednesday that included $1.6 million in cuts. The deficit came mostly from state funding cuts.

Veterans Struggle To Find Their Place On Campus
Peter Schmidt, a dean at Edmonds Community College and Veterans Administration consultant, says 1 in 5 veterans are coming back with an invisible wound, such as mild traumatic brain injury, PTSD, depression and more. … He says several schools, including Evergreen, Eastern and Central Washington Universities, Clover Park Technical College and Green River, Whatcom and Spokane Community Colleges, have made huge strides.
